Happy 17th Year of the 3rd Millennium

I'm not into making "New Year Resolutions", but I am looking forward to the new year as a time where I'm going to make some positive changes in my life.  How about you?

Happy Holidays

Fdip218: The 2009 Phedippidations Holiday PodCast Variety Show Special

9 years ago I published a holiday special for fellow runners around the world.

Here it is again, for your listening enjoyment.

Return to The Paper

How do you get your news?  For me, it’s been a long winded journey from online sources to NewRadio and apps and finally, back to the News Paper that my Dad and siblings would read around the kitchen table.

All I Have Left of Her

Surprisingly I didn’t break open the computer while on vacation in Florida, I focused on the “present” and enjoyed both Key West and time with three of my grandchildren.  The first week of December is special to me, for both the good things and bad things that happened over the years, during that week.  On this episode of Intervals, I’m pondering the idea that “pain” is not always a bad thing, maybe.  Or, I could just be full of crap. (Wouldn’t be the first time).  Happy Birthday Kaiya.

Key West with Murph and The Captain

I had a fantastic vacation over the past two weeks, but it was the Red Sox encounters that I want to share with you on this episode of Intervals.

Hey? Are You Okay?

So the election is over and once again Drumpf has won, because he's a winner...and always wins BIGLY.  So, what are those of us who didn't vote for him supposed to do now?  Abide.  The Dude Abides.

Election Day

It's not the best choice, but it is the ONLY choice.  Vote Hillary for President, because the world cannot afford a Trump Presidency, and you will have to answer the question "What did you do to stop him from being elected?". Do not fall for the "false equivalency".

Me just after voting for Hillary Clinton.

The Last Game

And so, the 2016 Major League Baseball season comes to an end, and a long winter awaits. I'm at the Bourbon Street Distillery on Indianapolis Ave.  Come on down and we'll have one last beer at a ballgame.  #GOCUBS

I voted, because it was the only rational choice.

I HAVE VOTED, and while it was a struggle...I've made the most adult decision...despite my better judgement.  I didn't vote for this person because I LIKED them, I did it because I love my country.  Sorry Jill.

The OFF Button

While watching the 3rd Presidential Debate (and getting increasingly more angry) I discovered an amazing feature that is built into all TV sets!  Like you, I can't wait for this election to be over.

Mass 2016 Ballot Questions

Just for fun I'm going to do something never attempted on a podcast before.  I'm going to VOTE on the four Massachusetts Ballot Questions, "live" on this episode.

Just for the record: I'm fairly certain that Marijuana is an extremely unhealthy substance to consume or inhale. Despite my position on the topic, I honestly don't recommend using the stuff. But that's just me.

Excited?  No?  Listen in.

Run Long and Vote

I'm talking polling, science and the importance of voting.  What I'm NOT doing is getting angry about it.

"Go" by Valley Lodge

My heart, my soul, i'm begging you for more

Turn it all on again, do you remember laughter too?
Tell me what I want to hear; Tell me what I want to hear

Life Here and Now

Baseball, my family and my family’s health.  That’s what’s going on with me right now.  Go Sox.

Fireflies in the Garden

With the end of Autumn and Labor Day Weekend, the Summer of 2016 is coming to an end. For me, summer is measured in baseball games and books I’ve read.

Sorry for Sorrow

So, my idea to use a podcast and social networking to have a reasonable argument regarding politics has lead to me to change the way I use social media.  Suffice it to say that “Facebook isn’t good for me”.

Digital and the Radio Star

Mark Parenteau has passed away.  He was a good guy and a legend in radio.  His passing reminds me that I played a very small but important part in the “digital age” of radio. and it’s somehow fitting that I can tell you this story on a podcast.

At the Landsdowne on Fenway

Eric and I are at Fenway, enjoying a frosty brew after a tough Red Sox loss. In the course of this conversation we discuss way too many things, as is our way. GO SOX!

Digging Warren's Point

Warren (the fellow runner, NOT the interconnecting rabbit burrow) send me an incredibly well written, brilliant and intelligent email message.  I can’t read it to you because I don’t have permission to do so, but I felt that the best response I could give to him would be through a “goofy little podcast”.  Thank you Warren!

That New Watch Smell One Year Later

It’s been a year since I first strapped on my Apple Watch, and today I’m going to give you my impression of the gadget after a year of use.

Raining Purple

Prince has passed, and for me it’s a big deal.  Let me explain.

Play Ball Again!

Baseball is a personal thing for me, and after another long dark winter: IT’S BACK.    This episode ends with my reading of Ernest Lawrence Thayer’s epic poem “Casey at the Bat”…because…IT’S BACK!! (And I’ve missed it alot).

ZENVEDA: Every Day in April

April is here, a month that I have been desperately waiting for since the sun set back on November 1st of last year (the end of daylight savings time, 2015).  As as the days continue to grow in length, video bloggers around the planet are taking part in ZENVEDA to Vlog EVERY DAY IN APRIL.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/zenveda

Running with Dr David

I had the honor to talking with Dr. David Jones on his fantastic podcast "Running to Mental Health" at RunningtoMentalHealth.com this week. In this episode of Intervals I invite you to check out his show, for your own good.  You're welcome in advance.

Why Did I Post-it?

Today I introduce a fun new game-show wherein contestants from around the world get to look at my stupid Facebook page and ask me the question “Why Did I Post-it?”

Checking In

Just a quick update on what I’ve been up to and what’s coming up in the next few weeks.  I’ll be on the Running to Mental Health podcast later this month http://runningtomentalhealth.com/ and I am producing a new episode of Phedippidations that I hope to publish at the end of March. GO SOX!!

I’m home from the Circle City, the Crossroads of America, Naptown, Racing Capital of the World, Amateur Sports Capital of the World and a very cold, rainy, snowy city where my Jeep is waiting silently for me.

A Brand New Way of Looking at the Universe

Mankind had a big day last week, a day that really will change everything with regards to looking out at the Universe around us and understanding our place within it.  Why is the discovery of Gravitational Waves a big deal?  Let me tell you all about it.

A new episode of Phedippidations is out for your audible consumption. In this episode of Intervals I’m just “checking in” and letting you know what’s UP with me and my family. Basically, I’m just rambling on this one…but it’s all good.  Bring on the snow, it’s not going to get me down.

The Ethics of Eating

A Conversation with Adam “Zen Runner” Tinkoff about the documentary “Cowspiracy” and the moral philosophy of consuming animal flesh.

Ethical Eating

I’ve decided to start eating better and have actually lost a few pounds in just a short amount of time.  I’ve been thinking about how MEAT and the consumption of that animal protein effects my health…and even more so, my conscience.

This is the episode of Sam Harris's podcast that I talked about: http://www.samharris.org/podcast/item/the-dark-side
